Located on the west coast of Washington state, it’s morphed into a powerhouse for tech innovation. That all being said, as a resident and Futurist, my biggest fear is the growth of tech eclipsing what still remains of art and culture, propelling the city into a sanitized version of itself. The cost of living has already edged many Creatives outside of the city in search of more affordable living.
This is a multi-pronged problem but for fun, let’s genie-in-a-bottle it. If I could grant the city one wish, it would be additional investment in art and culture, the soul of the city. We are graced with a healthy tech industry; one that can fund the arts in a blink of an eye and to some extent, does. I’d like to see tech and the arts partner to create a vibrant culture; one that preserves a history rich in music and culture while embracing a future rich in technological innovation.
